18 May 2019 Varberg 1 Halmstad 0 Superettan

Keanin Ayer (South Africa) - tallish right-sided wide man for Varberg, young (19), rated at £68k, generally stayed out wide, one or two missteps, limited effect on match probably contributed to his being subbed on 54 minutes.

Karim Sadat (Ghana) - 27-year-old, solid, medium height, Halmstad forward, rated £180k, can win headers, some decent crosses, also wide left, but one weak finish, subbed on 75.

Thomas Boakye (Ghana) - Halmstad sub. on 58, medium height, 26-year-old, also rated £180k, left midfield, mostly defended, did create one chance with break down left, moved into centre later.

Unbeaten Varberg continued their great start to the season with this single goal win.

From the start, the visitors gave the home side plenty of respect and tended to back-off at any sign of danger.

Which resulted in a first half of few chances, one of the main threats coming from an excellent delivery by the left foot of Nahom Girmai.

That ended in a scramble in the Halmstad area and a save by their goalie.

The pattern of more Varberg possession followed in the second period before a break down the right gave Beqaj the chance to deliver for striker Seljmani to convert from close range.

Even with fifteen minutes remaining it felt like that one goal would be enough.

Although the visitors did have one headed opportunity later on Varberg held on Ok for another three points.

They could well be playing in the Swedish top division next season.
