LOSC went into this Europa Conference League Round of 16 encounter three goals up from the first leg. and likely to be in little danger of going out.
That was the way it transpired although the Austrians did gain some kudos by gaining a 1-1 draw at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.
Despite the expected outcome, there were some lively groups of home fans plus a vocal contingent from Graz.
They saw the Austrians press for an early goal with the Danish-Polish combination of Mika Biereth and the tall Symon Wlodarcyzk in attack.
But Lille overcame those threats and started to get their passing game together to ultimately dominate the first half.
Efforts came from Remy Cabella and a header from defender Bafode Diakite before right-back Tiago Santos shot home through a forest of opposition legs.
If it wasn’t over already that goal basically confirmed the LOSC victory.
But not before an unmarked Gregory Wuthrich nodded home a corner on the stroke of halftime.
That was the highlight for the visitors and it gave something for their travelling fans to enjoy.
The second period produced limited action as Sturm struggled to create chances against a well-organised home team.
Not that it really mattered LOSC could have added more particularly via striker Yazici and substitutes Gomes and Jonathan David.
Paulo Fonseca’s Lille had done the work in the first leg and did enough in the return to take their place in the quarter-finals.
