15 March 2019 Beziers 1 Auxerre 0 Ligue 2

Medhi Mostefa (Algeria) - home captain, centre back, solid, covered threats, mostly error-free.

Emmanuel Banda (Zambia) - midfield, nice left foot, a couple of misplaced passes, free-kick taker, subbed late on.

Simon Gbegnon (Togo) - centre back, combined with Mostefa, struggled at times against pace, one bad pass nearly cost Beziers.

Ahoueke Denkey (Togo) - late sub. did put himself about up front.

Jordan Adeoti (Benin) - visiting captain, tall central midfielder, right foot pass, good range of passes.

Beziers are in a relegation battle and they certainly need this valuable victory.

In a mostly even first half the threats from the visitors came from their speedy wide-man Daniel Mancini.

But the match would turn towards the home side when Souprayen was dismissed for a 'last man' foul.

Though it seemed Auxerre might hold out much to the delight of the chilled home crowd, the winner came when Dorian Bertrand crashed a great effort into the top of the net with five minutes remaining.

So Beziers gained the three points and additional hopes of avoiding the drop.
