15 May 2019 Lazio 2 Atalanta 0 Coppa Italia final

Bastos (Angola) - 27-year-old, rated at 4.50m in the transfer market, medium height, Lazio central defender, often involved early on with right and left-foot passes, mostly solid but some wayward, booked for a tackle from behind then substituted on 35 minutes. (either for the booking or for surviving a handball call) Was applauded by the fans when going off.

Musa Barrow (Gambia) - 20-year-old, rated at 5.4m in the transfer market, late substitute forward, came on when Atalanta were reeling from a late Lazio goal, unable to affect the outcome.

Lazio lifted their seventh Coppa Italia with this 2-0 defeat of Atalanta on an unseasonably cool and wet night in the Eternal City.

However, the outcome was decided only in the last ten minutes when first Milinkovic-Savic (who had only just appeared as a substitute) headed in from a corner then the excellent Joaquin Correa broke away near the end to force home the second.

A two-goal defeat was harsh on Atalanta who might have led when a shot from De Roon struck the bar in the first period.

With Ilicic and Zapata looking threatening at times the Bergamo team certainly played their part.

While Lazio could rely on the experienced Lucas Leiva patrolling the midfield and Correa to provide the presence in attack (Immobile less so)

Lazio also developed better combinations and generally edged possession.

With a second half of various interruptions, it looked like we would be heading another 30 minutes until coach Simone Inzaghi called for Milinkovic-Savic.

And his goal set off the celebrations and meant Atalanta would have to wait at least another year for their second Coppa Italia.

But the well-supported visitors from the north could now concentrate on qualifying for the Champions League.
